Workshop on CBCI Dalit Empowerment Policy in Polur Vicariate of Vellore diocese, Tamil Nadu

Vicariate level workshop on CBCI Dalit Empowerment Policy was conducted at Polur vicariate in Vellore Diocese, Tamil Nadu on 22nd April 2018 at Polur. Very Rev. Fr. John Robert the Vicar General of the diocese presided over the program. Fr. Boopathy Lourduswamy, former CBCI SC/ST commission Secretary and Fr. Devasagayaraj, CBCI SC/ST commission secretary were the resource persons. Fr. Sebastian the Vicar Forane organized the program along with Don Bosco Social Action and Research Centre (DBSARC) the Social work organization of the Silesians of Chennai province organized the program. Mr. Babu the Regional coordinator gave the felicitation address. Fr. Valan SDB and Sr. Alphonsa briefed the action plans based on the CBCI Dalit Empowerment Policy. Fr. Gnanasekar the diocesan SC/SC commission secretary shared the different action plans of the commission especially the admission policy in the Catholic schools regarding the Dalit Christians. The DBSARC published a booklet containing the gist of the policy and the areas of action plans in the local context.

The participants promised to spread the messages of the CBCI Dalit Empowerment Policy at the grass root level. The diocesan secretary shared his plants to conduct similar workshops in all the vicariates.
